What a coup!
Two very experienced club members join the committee and we can only see bright things ahead. Both Roy Edden and Greg Bartlem quickly became passionate about Coventry United Football Club and got behind it with gusto from the start.
Greg, a Church of England Vicar, agreed to become the Club Chaplain and to offer his services by providing practical support and a listening ear to who ever may need it. As his working life revolves around community work, Greg fully supported the club ethos of becoming a real community club. He also saw the benefits of becoming a member of the Supporters Club and whenever possible attended Executive Committee meetings to show his support and find out more. When the role of Community Officer became vacant Greg was all too ready to lend his experience to the cause. Already a regular visitor to a number of Coventry Schools and churches, Greg got out of the starting blocks of his new role at a gallop. He has engaged members of the playing and coaching staff in Q&A and coaching sessions in schools and has a lot of other activities already planned. We are really excited about what Greg will bring to the development of links between the club and the wider community and look forward to reporting back to you in the future.
Roy is a VP and sponsor of the club. He also sponsors CovUnitedTV and supports Liam on match days, making the announcements and playing the club song! Roy also opened the first permanent Club Shop within his business, Coventry Motorcycles and Scooters on Walsgrave Rd and offers the full range of club merchandise. Like Greg, Roy was also interested in the work of the Executive committee and has attended meetings when he could to find out more about the work that was being done behind the scenes. Roy had already started planning for the Race Night when the position of Fundraising Officer became vacant and he was happy to take up the reins. We are confident that Roy will help us increase the funds necessary to support the club and to bring even greater success on the pitch.
I'm sure you will join us in congratulating Greg and Roy on their new roles and to supporting them in the future.
