Post Match - County Cup
Wolves produced the performance I expected of them, they contested every ball and battled for 90 minutes and worked tirelessly for each other.
We started extremely slow and nearly gifted wolves the opener, Sue stood tall and made a great save. Going in at half time at 0-0 having not really tested the wolves keeper was not what we had discussed as a group pre match. We knew we needed to be better all over the park.
Within 8 minutes of the restart we had the response we required, an extremely well worked team goal resulted in Formo tapping home to make it 1-0. 4 minutes later we doubled our lead through Amber who pounced on a miscommunication at the back and for Wolves.
Wolves struggled to create any real chances until a strike from 20 yards inside the last 10 minutes, which appeared to have been tipped over by Sue saw itself find the corner.
We road a nervy 10 minutes, despite wolves again not putting our goal under threat, through not playing our own fluid football we caused unnecessary pressure for ourselves.
We know we were not at our best and sometimes that just how games go, we achieved our aim of making the final, so credit for all involved on that front.
We have some incredibly tough league games fast approaching, we will need to be on top form to achieve the results we are looking for.
The second semi final will be played this Sunday between West Bromich Albion v Gornal Ladies FC. Final date is TBC.
